Posen track takes second at home track meet

The Posen track team got off to a nice start during their annual Knights of Columbus coed relay tournament with a second-place finish among 10 schools at the meet. Fairview took first with 82 points, while Posen was in second with 63. Mio was a couple of points in third (61).

Three relay teams, with eighth-graders to seniors competing together, won their events and include: 6,400-meter (24:27.89), Korynn Hincka, Lucas Litwinski, Emily Kroll and Warren Beach; 200 x 100 x 1

00 x 200-meter relay (1:23.04), Julia Lewandowski, David Kerr, Brittany LaTulip and Corey Hentkowski; 3,200-meter relay (1:52.24), Hincka, Kerr, Katie Stowe and Beach.

TWO RELAY teams took second. The squads include: 800 x 400 x 400 x 800-meter relay (7:48.92), Beach, Stowe, Kerr and Hincka; 400-meter relay (54.12), Hentkowski, LaTulip, Litwinski and Lewandowski. The 800-meter relay team of Kerr, Lewandowski, Litwinski and Bev Bednarski took third (1:58.96), along with the discus team of Mike Metivier, Tracy Mulka, Kristina Wisniewski and Litwinski who had combined throws totaling 305′ 8 “.

Hentkowski, Stowe, John Zaborney and Bednarski were fourth in the long jump (57′ 9 3/4″). ON MONDAY, the teams traveled to the Inland Lakes Invitational and competed against 13 other schools. The boys ended in 11th place. Hentkowski took the only first in the long jump (18′ 6 1/2″). Kerr was third in the 400-meter dash (57.30). Up next will be a trip to Mio Friday afternoon. The Vikings hosted the county meet Wednesday (past press time).
