Five Cards earn postseason honors

Winter sports season has come and gone and spring sports season is quickly approaching. All-conference honors have been handed out for boys? and girls? basketball.

Allie Nave, senior guard who averaged 15.8 points, nine rebounds and more than five steals and assists per game earned first team all-conference honors. Nave also was named to the Associated Press all-state list for the fourth consecutive year. Nave has been all-conference all four years as well. Nave will graduate at the head of the Class of 2010 as co-valedictorian and will continue her basketball and softball careers at Alma College in the fall.

Senior Payton Lupu and junior Kate Chapman both made the honorable mention all-conference list for their efforts on the hardwood this season. Lupu averaged 8.1 points and more than 10 rebounds per game this season. Chapman netted 7.6 points and snagged 6.9 rebounds per game.

The girls? team finished the season shooting 34 percent from the

field, 23 percent from three-point range and 54 percent from the free throw line. They had 830 rebounds, 190 assists, 338 steals and 999 points on the season finishing with a 12-9 overall record and 9-7 in the conference.

Senior Jan O?Bradovich led the boys? team as he was named second-team all-conference, averaging 18.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game for his second consecutive all-conference selection.

Senior Newt Chapman was the only other Cardinal boy to be named all-conference as he was named honorable mention, as he averaged four points, five rebounds and two and a half blocks per game.

The boys? team shot 34 percent from the field, 18 percent from beyond the arc and shot 53 percent from the free throw line. They finished the season 3-17 overall and 2-14 in the league. They grabbed 680 rebounds, had 140 assists, 68 blocks and 185 steals and scored 1,058 points.
