On the heels of another impressive home victory last Thursday against Fairview (40-36), the Posen girls’ basketball team welcomes, arguably, one of the best Class D basketball teams in the state tonight to the Posen High School gym. Arenac Eastern (AE) has met the expectations of preseason prognosticators, going 14-0 on the season, with a firm hold of first place in the North Star League (NSL) standings. AE WILL put their undefeated mark on the line against a Posen team that has experienced a turnaround since the Eagles won round one down in Twining by 14 points back in December. Without a doubt, the Vikings are a much better team. Winners of six of seven, they are playing a high-pressure brand of defense and would like to send more shock waves through the league.
The Vikings already have upset the NSL apple cart a couple of times. Hillman still doesn’t know what hit them when th
Hincka had a career best 16 points to go with 12 rebounds. Ciarkowski put in 10 points and added 12 boards as well. Eight of the 12 third quarter points came from Hincka and Ciarkowski. Anna Couture managed the floor duties from her point guard position, dishing out nine assists. Weaver led Fairview with 12. The junior varsity (12-1, 8-1) defeated Fairview (54-25) last Thursday and Au Gres (38-11), Jan. 25.
