Ted and Gail Riley?s family campground

A project that started out as a place to water the cattle and horses for Ted Riley has turned into a popular gathering place for his kids and grandkids. The campground is just for the Riley family and according to Ted is used virtually every holiday by his five children 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren as well as other family members.

?The kids did a lot of the work on it and we have added something almost every year,? said Ted. The crane, which serves as a gate to the campground, was a gift from the kids for Ted and Gail?s 50th wedding anniversary and Father?s Day.

All of the Riley family lives within about seven miles of the campground according to Ted, but use the campground as an inexpensive get away for the holidays and some weekends as they can go there to play in the sand pile, swim, ride bikes, play games, ride four-wheelers and do pretty much whatever they want without disturbing anyone else.

The family has been using the area to camp for a number of years but with the addition of the gate this year it has become more noticeable to anyone passing by. ?They all get together and stay right there and have their parties where they aren?t bothering anyone, aren?t incurring a great expense and have sort of a private party,? said Ted.
