Seven to compete in Miss Posen Pageant August 7

August 7 is the day and Posen High School is the place for the annual Miss Posen Queen?s Pageant at 7:30 p.m. The contestants have been working on their talent presentations and the opening number to prepare for the event. This year’s seven seniors-to-be at Posen High School are vying for the title of ?Miss Posen?, and the new queen will succeed Bonnie Schmitz, winner of the title last year. The contestants will be evaluated in individual interviews to be conducted the day of the pageant. During the pageant itself, they will be judged in the areas of coordination, poise and appearance (evening gown) and talent. Contestants in alphabetical order are:

Janice Grace Ciarkowski, 17, is the daughter of David and Grace Ciarkowski. She is active in National Honor Society (NHS), Youth Group, Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.) Trip Club, softball, basketball and volleyball. Her future plans are to attend Ferris State University and earn a degree in business administration and pursue a career in the marking field.

Natasha Finley, 16, is the daughter of David and Audrey Reprogal. She is involved in Educational Talent Search (ETS) and Cheer America. She plans on attending college and studying to become a marine photographer.

Kaitlin Ann Hirschman, 17, the daughter of Jim and Ann Hirschman, participates in ETS. She enjoys writing poetry and has had two of her poems published. Her future plans are to attend college, have a book published and travel the world.

Emily Kroll is the 17-year-old daughter of Gerald and Joanne Kroll, She is active in Trip Club, S.A.D.D., Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council, Youth Group, NHS, Upward Bound as well as Educational Talent Search. Her future plans are to have a close-knit family and obtain a fulfilling job.

Julia Lewandowski, 17, is the daughter of Mark and Denise Lewandowski. She belongs to Trip club, S.A.D.D., Ski Club, ETS, Youth Group, National Honor Society, student council and participates in basketball, volleyball, track and competitive dance. Her plans are to open a dance studio and obtain a job that involved helping people.

sha Peters, 17, is the daughter of Greg and Kris Peters and the late June Jodoin. She participates in Cheer America. She plans on attending college to pursue a career in graphic design.

Cheryl Romel is the 17 year-old daughter of Leo and Denyse Romel. She is involved in the NHS, S.A.D.D., student council, Trip Club, ETS, and Youth Group. Her future plans are to attend college and study law.

GingerAnn Neslund choreographed the opening number. Last year?s talent award winner, Autumn Reese who will sing, and a dance by sisters Jordyn and Kelleigh Lamb of Rogers City will provide entertainment.

Performing the duties of master of ceremonies will be Conrad Bruski along with co-mistress of ceremonies, Susie Martin, both from radio station WATZ. Judges for this year?s program are: Ken Connon, Penny Mitchell and Carol Witherbee. The pageant precedes the annual Posen Potato Festival, which will be September 11, 12, and 13. The new queen and her court will reign over the festival as well as represent Posen at other events throughout the year.
