Posen superintendent?s contract extended

by Peter Jakey, Managing Editor

Dru Milliron?s contract as superintendent/K-12 principal has been extended a year by members of the Posen Consolidated School Board of Education. The board went into executive session Monday to go over Milliron?s evaluation, as well as discuss the direction of negotiations regarding the expiring teacher contract. Following the executive session, Milliron received good marks and an additional year to the end of what is a continuous, three-year deal.

Milliron is Posen?s first superintendent to handle the K-12 position, but additionally, when he was hired in to take over in a full-time role in 2007, it was his first administrative job.

?MR. MILLIRON has met or exceeded our expectations in every category of his valuation,? said Ken Wozniak, school board president. ?There was then discussion about minor improvements needed in certain areas. Overall, the board is very pleased with his performance.?

Milliron requested the evaluation be handled in executive session, which is typical when superintendents are being evaluation. Wozniak said he couldn?t remember one being conducted in the open meeting. His salary is $86,488 a year. Milliron was a teacher in the school for several years, before moving into the superintendent?s office.

With the teacher contract expiring June 30, contract talks are getting under way, but with a cloud of uncertainty hanging over. ?It is kind of in the waiting stages hoping to know a little bit more about the stimulus and about the budget,? said Wozniak. ?That?s where it kind of is at.?
