High school musicians earn top ratings at state festival

Seven Rogers City High School (RCHS) students received a ?First Division? rating at State Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Manistee High School March 28. The following events performed. First Division Ratings were awarded to Kaylee Kreft and Mike Idalski, clarinet duet; Aaron Wilbert, oboe solo; Sara Dimick, alto saxophone solo; Jeff Kuznicki and Jesse Wilbert, snare drum duet; and Ryan Romel, Kuznicki and Jesse Wilbert performed a percussion trio.

Events receiving a ?Second Division? were, Kaylee Kreft, clarinet solo; and Mike Idalski, alto saxophone solo.

Aaron Wilbert was nominated to audition for the Michigan Youth Arts Solo Competition held in May, at Central Michigan University. Only select musicians from six Michigan festival sites are chosen to audition, and to perform with the Michigan Youth Arts Orchestra.
