First annual vintage snowmobile ride a huge success

The first annual Onaway vintage snowmobile ride held on January 24 was a success as everything went as planned. Event planner Art Tennant was on the trail around 8 a.m. checking the signs and markers.

Even though temperatures were in the single digits, the riders with their sleds just kept coming out and joining in the fun.

More than $1,200 worth of prizes donated by local sponsors throughout the area were given out. At noon the ride began with the newer sleds going first, and the vintage sleds followed.

By 2 p.m. everyone had returned to the El-Bo Inn where the riders enjoyed the food provided by the owners and the door prizes were handed out. The entire day had a couple hundred sleds going through the El-Bo Inn. A group from Canada even stayed for the drawing of door prizes, and having won many prizes they donated them back so they could be given out again.

According to Tennant he saw the event as a huge success and planning has already began for the next winter.
