Stoney Creek Restaurant and Lounge raises money for Wertz Warriors
In an effort to raise money to support Special Olympics through the Wertz Warriors snowmobile ride, Stoney Creek Restaurant and Lounge of Onaway has been sponsoring events to benefit the group.
Last Saturday at an auction held at the restaurant many people attended and bid on a wide variety of items, raising more than $7,000 to support the cause. Without the large number of donated items for the auction and the many people who bid on those items the auction would not have been a success.
Next up the restaurant is sponsoring a poker tournament this Saturday. Registraton will begin at 3 p.m. with cards to begin at 4 p.m. The buy in for the event is $60 and the payout for the event will depend on the number of entrants. Last year?s tournament drew 90 participants. There is no need to pre-register for the tournament, just arrive between 3-4 p.m. with the buy in.
The Wertz Warriors will be driving to Stoney Creek Restaurant and Lounge on Friday, February 6 around noon, following a stop at the Millersburg Eagles, to accept the funds raised by members of the Onaway community to help support Special Olympics.
