Huron basketball teams back after holiday break

The Huron basketball teams are back in action next week, after the holiday break. The girls? team is looking for its first win of the season when Hillman comes to town January 6. In the final week before the holiday break, the Hurons lost to two of the top basketball teams in the state, Cedarville and St. Ignace. With that rough stretch behind them, coach Paul Stempky and his team look to start the New Year off in a positive way in the rematch with Hillman. The Tigers took a 41-35 win at Hillman in the season opener for both schools. The girls travel to Sault Ste. Marie January 9 and play at Cedarville January 13 and host Cheboygan January 15. The Huron boys, under first-year coach Tom Adrian, began the season with a win, then lost games to Rudyard, Cedarville, St. Ignace and close one to Hillman in the closing seconds. Rogers City (1-4) hosts Sault Ste. Marie, which is 1-3, heading into the St. Ignace tournament this week. The Hurons play at Inland Lakes January 15 and host Cheboygan January 16.
