Chris Ellenberger joins ranks of Eagle Scouts

Chris Ellenberger refurbished the tennis and basketball courts at the Edna Lound Recreation Area for his Eagle Scout project, including resealing both of the courts.

Ellenberger joined the Boy Scouts of America when he was in the fifth grade and made it his goal to become an Eagle Scout. ?The goal when you joined was to reach the rank of Eagle Scout so I set that as a goal for myself. After my cousin and brother reached the rank I felt like it was possible for me,? said Ellenberger.

The project began in the fall of 2007 and finished in fall of 2008, ?I got the idea for my project from personal experience. I played on the courts all summer long and it was really beat down. I saw potential for it and that is when I though I could make it into an Eagle project,? said Ellenberger.

Weather days set Ellenberger back on quite a few occasions. ?The work itself took a lot longer than I intended as it took over a year to finish. I couldn?t have finished it without all of the help from the city of Onaway, my troop, my family and my friends,? Ellenberger said.
