The Rogers City junior varsity football team finished off the season by defeating Oscoda 50-28. The offense had a great night with 485 yards, 351 on the ground. Chad Karsten did an excellent job in his first start at running back with 92 yards and two touchdowns. Greg Tulgestke had his most productive game with 219 yards and two touchdowns as well. Quarterback Jesse Wilbert scored one rushing touchdown and also threw two touchdown passes and two conversions for 134 yards in the air. Joe Kasubowski caught both passing touchdowns, the first coming on a fourth-and-eight situation when the team was down 6-0. Wilbert, Dylan Orr, Chase Grulke and Lance Schaedig added two point conversions. The defense was led by Keegan Urban (9 tackles), Craig Nadolsky (8 tackles), Zach Sobeck (7 tackles), and Kasubowski (2 interceptions). ?The team played outstanding. We had guys step up and make their first start of the year or play new positions. The game was close 28-22 at halftime and Oscoda came out and tied it right away in the third quarter. After that the Owls never scored again and the Hurons kept piling up yards. It was a great way to finish a great year.? said coach Chad Coolman.
