Schaar honored with CMH Good Samaritan Award

Cheboygan Memorial Hospital (CMH) Development Council honors donors annually with an invitation to an Ice Cream Social held in the Hospital cafeteria. Each year at the Social, Good Samaritan Awards are presented to one or more people who have shown strong support for the Hospital.

Support is shown in many ways, for example by taking part in community programs presented by CMH, encouraging community and family members to support the Hospital, volunteering at the Hospital and offering donations to improve the Hospital. Recipients of this year?s Awards have done all of those things and more. Awards were presented Wednesday, August 13, by Michele Andrews, Chairman of the Annual Support Committee, CMH Development Council.

A Good Samaritan Award was given to Sally Schaar. ?Sally works in the Histology Department of the CMH Medical Laboratory, and is a member of the

Hospital?s Development Council Employee Relations and Annual Support Committees,? said Weiss.

?She volunteers for a multitude of extracurricular events at the Hospital and is instrumental in promoting employee morale. She is quick to remind people of the importance of having a community hospital that offers quality health care for area residents and visitors. Sally is active in her church in Onaway, and is recognized for the time she gives there, as well. Her positive attitude, cheerfulness and genuine caring are appreciated by everyone she comes in contact with, and help mark her as a Good Samaritan.?

Sally and her husband, Charlie, reside in Onaway. They have six children and five grandchildren.
