Rogers City city manager Mark Slown appeared before the Presque Isle County Development Commission (CDC) and Economic Development Commission (EDC) board met last Thursda during the public comment period and put a resolution before the board that was added to the agenda and passed. Slown appeared for a zoning change in the industrial park area of the city/county, a matter he had already discussed with the CDC/EDC executive committee that would change the zoning to light industrial. The board passed the resolution making the change after much discussion.

The reason for the discussion of the change was the worry that with Wolverine Power planning on coming to town, having it zoned as industrial would be more beneficial so the area does not fill up with commercial businesses before the need for industry can be filled. Outside of that resolution no other motions were passed for new or unfinished business.

Cheryl Peters, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension executive director did a program for the board outlining what her programs do in the county. Executive director of the CDC/EDC Bill Valentine made it clear to the board that the reason for inviting Cheryl was because ?so much of what they do directly connects with what we do as a board,? said Valentine.
