Colorful Visitors’ and Resource Guide due out in May

Reaction has been very positive to the announcement that Presque Isle Newspapers will publish a full color, glossy Visitors and Resource Guide in May. The publication is not new, since the newspaper has been printing a visitors? guide as a newsprint tabloid for the past several years, but the presentation for 2008 will be colorfully different, said publisher Richard Lamb.

?We have been doing the visitors? guide for some years now, but decided to upgrade the publication to a more colorful and durable product to make it stand out and last longer in people?s homes,? Lamb said.

The book will be at least 32 pages, or more, if warranted by advertiser support, and will be 8 by 10 1/2 inches in size with each page printed in full color. At least 10,000 copies will be printed and distributed, with the possibility of more copies being printed, if there is a demand. ?A project like this has been in the works for a few years, but with our fire and rebuilding project taking up much of my time in the last two years, the project was shelved until this year,? Lamb said. ?It is a very ambitious project for our staff, but we are looking forward to producing the most colorful publication we have ever done at The Advance.? Within hours of announcing

plans to produce this publication, full-page ads were sold for the back cover, the inside front cover, and the inside back cover.

The publication will be inserted in all editions of the Presque Isle County Advance and the Onaway Outlook the week before Memorial Day with additional copies available for local and regional chamber of commerce offices, highway welcome centers, and participating advertisers. The guide is an ideal way for the tourist, or those new to the area, to become familiar with the county. It will contain information on area festivals and events, area resources, and some history of the county.

This year, it will also be a handy resource guide for local government information as well as a calendar of events planned for the county. Deadline for advertising is April 25.
