Rogers City, Posen students to graduate this weekend

Both Posen and Rogers City high schools will graduate their Class of 2007 this weekend, with all of the pomp and circumstance due the honored young people. According to assistant administrator Dru Milliron, 29 PHS will graduate at commencement Friday at 7:30 p.m. RCHS principal Deb Jones said there are 64 candidates for graduation set for Sunday at 2 p.m. Father Paul Grala, associate pastor from St. Casimir Catholic Church, will give the invocation shortly after the seniors are ushered into the Posen gymnasium. That will be followed by salutatory and valedictory addresses. The valedictorian is Jason Romel, while the salutation is Thomas Hentkowski.

A video presentation, produced by Tiffany Oliver, also will be shown. Kenneth Wozniak, board of education president, will award the diplomas. Class officers include Jennifer Ciarkowski, president; Brittany Styma, vice president; Roxann Hincka, secretary; and Sara Zakshesky, treasurer. Student council representatives are Michelle Mulka, Amanda Novak, Kristin Stricker, and Zakshesky. The class advisor is Glenn Budnick.

IN ROGERS CITY, Class Night is set for tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. at the high school with counselor Marilyn Dimick presenting community scholarship winners and awards, after a welcome b

y principal Deb Jones. The song ?Good Riddance? by Green Day, featuring vocalists Katie Gabara, Rachelle Prater and Anna Kamyszek, will be performed. A slideshow, produced by Simone Kapala and Ashley Munn featuring the class song ?Learning to Fly? by Tom Petty, will wrap up the festivities. At Sunday?s ceremony, special music will be provided by the high school band and choir, both under the direction of Edward Wilbert. The valedictory address will be delivered by Andrew Tulgestke, while Chelsea Kreft and Tricia Frost will each give salutatory addresses. School board president Michael Marx will present diplomas.

Class officers for RCHS are Heather Szumila, president, Tricia Kamyszek, vice-president, Christine Meharg, secretary, Tricia Frost, treasurer, while Szumila, Kapala, Kamyszek, and Dana Fairbanks served as class representatives to the student council. Karl Grambau is class sponsor.
