Posen Vikings setting more personal records in track and field

The Posen Viking track team traveled to the Au Gres-Sims Invitational Tuesday, competing against eight other teams. Although the boys? and girls? teams did not place high overall, they continued to break personal records in a variety of events. Steve Lijewski has been a top finisher for the Vikings, and Tuesday was no different. He placed first place over 20 other athletes in the shot put event with his throw of 41?11?. He also broke a personal record with his third place finish in the discus event with 116?.

Garrett Quick brought home his personal best time in the 400-meter dash with a ninth place finish (57.14 seconds), while Jason Romel ran his personal best in the same event with 58.51 seconds. Quick also had an eighth place finish in the 800-meter run with his time of 2:23.15.

For the girls?, sophomore Tina Mulka had a fifth place personal best finish in the long jump with 13?08.25?. She also ran for her personal best time in the 400-meter dash with 1:08.95. Natasha Finley took home her personal best finish in the di

scus event with 71?08?, as well as a personal best in the 100-meter dash (15.84 seconds). Bonnie Schmitz also had a personal best time in the 100-meter dash with 15.10 seconds.

The 800-meter relay team of Emily Kroll, Aleaha Reed, Tina Mulka, and Michelle Mulka ran for their personal best time in 2:03.54, while the 1600-meter relay team of Schmitz, Tina Mulka, Reed, and Michelle Mulka had a personal best fifth place finish with their time of 4:48.64. The Vikings traveled to the Mancelona Invitational last Friday. Lijewski took second place in the shot put event with 41?7?, and fourth place in discus with 105?10?.

The 800-meter relay team of Lijewski, Quick, Tyler Krajniak, and Romel took home their personal best time 1:47.49. Krajniak also had a personal record in the 800-meter run with his time of 2:23.48. The girls? 800-meter relay team of Kroll, Reed, Tina Mulka, and Schmitz took seventh place in 2:06.34. Finley had a personal record in the discus event (65?8?), while Eleisha Perrault brought home her own personal discus record of 59?6?. Posen travels to Inland Lakes on Friday, and to Johannesburg-Lewiston on Monday.
