Posen track teams breaking personal records on the road

They didn?t walk away with a first place trophy, but the Posen Viking track teams did walk away from the Fairview Invitational Tuesday with several personal records, proving each athlete is improving with every experience.

SENIOR STEVE Lijewski led the boys? team with two personal records in the shot put and discus events. He took third place out of 35 throwers in shot put with 42?08?, and third place out of 29 athletes in the discus event with 114?06?. The 800-meter relay team of Lijewski, Garrett Quick, Mike Metivier, and Jason Romel broke a personal best record, landing in 10th place with their time of 1:48.50. Tyler Krajniak took his personal best time in the 1600-meter run with 5:29.90. Krajniak, Lijewski, Quick, and Romel also took a personal best time in the 400-meter relay, landing in eighth place with 50.45 seconds.

Quick also took home sixth place honors in the 800-meter run with his time of 2:20.45, while Romel finished in the 13-spot out of 27 runners in the 100-meter dash (12.89 seconds). The girls? team also broke several personal records in Fairview, including senior Eleisha Perrault?s 55?06? shot put performance. The 3200-meter relay team of Victoria Wozniak, Tina Mulka, Michelle Mulka, and Emily Kroll broke a personal record with their eighth place finish in 12:34.48. Wozniak, Bonnie Schmitz, Tina Mulka, and Michelle Mulka broke another personal best in the 400-meter relay with an eighth place finish in 59.22 seconds, while Kroll broke her personal best in the 800-meter run with 3:10.25.

THE VIKINGS traveled to the 2007 Mio Invitational last Friday. Both teams placed seventh overall. The distance medley team of Tina Mulka, Aleaha Reed, Wozniak, and Kroll took fourth place in 16:41.68. The 400-meter relay team of Wozniak, Reed, Tina Mulka, and Kroll took third place honors with 1:00.68. That same group of athletes earned fourth place in the 800-meter relay with their time of 2:07.35, while Wozniak took fifth in the 100-meter dash (15.42 seconds). On the boys? end, Lijewski stepped up to take home a first place medal in the shot put event (41?08?), and second in the discus (107?05?).

Quick took home third place honors in the 800-meter run with his time of 2:22.67. The Posen Vikings hosted the Presque Isle Championships last Wednesday, taking on both Rogers City and Onaway. Posen took third place, while Onaway placed first and Rogers City second.

The Viking 400-meter relay team of Reed, Kroll, Natasha Finley, and Tina Mulka took first place honors in their time of 1:01.07. Taking first place in the throwers relay (1:04.15) was the team of Perrault, Schmitz, Finley, and Wozniak. The 800-meter relay team of Reed, Tina Mulka, Schmitz, and Wozniak took third place in 2:07.63. For the boys? team, Lijewski took first place in the discus event with 106?09?. He also took first in the shot put with 40?9?. Romel took second in the 100-meter dash (12.41 seconds), and fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.18 seconds). He also placed fourth in the long jump (17?1 0?).

Quick took third in the 800-meter run with 2:21.49. The Vikings travel to Mancelona Friday, and head to Au Gres on Tuesday.
