Three Vikes earn all-conference, point guard sets school record

Garnering post-season honors from the 2006-07 Posen basketball team were a pair of juniors and a senior. The North Star League announced its all-conference team last week with juniors Jordan Hincka and Nick LaTulip earning first team honors. Senior Matt Styma was an honorable mention. Hincka led the Vikings with 19.3 points per game. He could score in a variety of ways. Hincka was not afraid to take matters into his own hands and dribble through the defense for a lay up, or he was deadly from three-point range. Hincka finished with a team-best 462 points and is 56 points away from joining the 1,000 point club. He was second on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game and free throw percentage (70.6 percent).

LaTulip joins Hincka on the first team NSL squad with 17.3 points per game and finished his season with 415 points. He led the Vikes under the boards by gathering

9.4 rebounds per game. LaTulip had 10 double-doubles (rebounds/points) this past season. Styma scored 119 points in his final season in a Viking uniform. The player affectionately known as ?Uncle Sam,? will be remembered for acrobatic jump shots and hustle. He averaged five points and four rebounds per game. Setting a school record, and a player who flew under the all-conference radar, was senior point guard Brandon Hentkowski who ends his career with 315 career assists. He is also the only student in school history to play on four consecutive district championship teams. He also has a regional championship medal.

The Vikings finished the 2006-07 season with an 18-6 record. They averaged 66 points per game and gave up an average of 53.6 points per contest. Head coach Steve Hentkowski will be bringing in six seniors next season. They include Nate Strzelecki, Nick Delekta, Nick Idalski, Paul Kroll, as well as their all-conference players, Hincka and LaTulip.
