Special meeting of board to decide superintendent

The members of the Rogers City School Board narrowed the superintendent search from six candidates to two ? Daniel Byrne and Jeff Liedel. By next week the school board members are confident that Rogers City Area Schools will have a new superintendent in position. ?We?ve done all our homework, and now it?s time to make a decision,? said school board president Mike Marx. ?We are anticipating a motion (at a Wednesday evening special meeting) to select one of the two candidates and offer him a contract.?

Several members of the school board traveled on a site visit last Thursday to Pinconning, which is the district where Byrne served as principal before taking a principal position in Rawlins, Wyoming. The school board members were also able to participate in a teleconference with Byrne?s current superintendent in Wyoming. The site visit also took RC representatives to the Vanderbilt Schools where Liedel is the current principal and superintendent. It happened to be parent/teacher conference day, and Marx said he and other school board members were able to talk with members of Liedel?s community. The superintendent decision took place Wednesday (after press time) during a special school board meeting, and the outcome will be reported in next week?s edition of The Advance.
