Romel, Hentkowski top Class of 2007 at Posen high School

Posen High School assistant administrator Dru Milliron has announced the honor graduates for the Class of 2007. Earning the honor of valedictorian is Jason Romel with a 3.95 grade point average. Thomas Hentkowski will be the salutatorian with his grade point average of 3.93.

Jason Romel is the son of Marti and Kevin Romel. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Educational Talent Search. He has participated in varsity sports throughout his four years at PHS and earned academic all-state honorable mention in football. Romel?s post-graduation plans are still undecided.

Thomas Hentkowski is the son of Jimmie and Mary Jane Hentkowski. He has been active with the National Honor Society, and took part in Educational Talent Search, 2007 Trip Club, Upward Bound, and the basketball team. Thomas was student of the month, student of the week (Alpena News), and has been on the honor roll. His plans are to attend Saginaw Valley State University and pursue a degree in pre-law and continuing his education in law school and get a job in that field.

Brandon Hentkowski, 3.84, is the son of Steve and Mary Hentkowski. He has been involved in football, basketball, baseball, and also worked as a scorekeeper/timer. Brandon also participated with the 2007 Trip Club, National Honor Society, and Yearbook. Hentkowski claimed honors as student of the month and student of the week. In sports, he was second team all conference in football; first team all-conference, baseball; academic all-district, baseball; academic all-region, baseball; MVP, baseball; and all-area honorable mention, basketball. Brandon plans to go to Alma College to pursue a degree in pre-physical therapy for four years and then transfer to either Central Michigan University or Grand Valley State University to finish his doctorate.

Brittany Chojnacki, 3.81, is the daughter of Dominic and Kim Chojnacki. She was a varsity letter winner, took part in track and field as a freshman, earned academic achievements, and was on the honor roll. Brittany is interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in nursing and continuing her education toward a master?s degree. She would like to attend Oakland University.

Sarah Zakshesky, 3.79, is the daughter of James and Mary Ann Zakshesky. She has been part of the National Honor Society, student council, and served as class officer. Sarah was involved with the Trip Club, SADD, Upward Bound, and Educational Talent Search. She also was a student of the week and student of the month. Zakshesky?s plans include attending Aquinas College and pursuing a degree in political science.

Lauren Flewelling, 3.76, is the daughter of Andrea and Michael Flewelling. She was part of the Pep Club, SADD, National Honor Society, as well as Journalism/Yearbook. In sports, Lauren earned rookie of the year honors on the golf team in 10th grade. She would like to pursue a degree in digital arts and photography at Central Michigan University, or Lake Superior State University.

Greg Donajkowski, 3.73, is the son of Wallace and Kathryn Donajkowski. He participated with the Trip Club, SADD, Pep Club, and football. Greg has been on the honor roll and was recognized as student of the month. Donajkowski wants to continue his education at Michigan Technological University, to pursue the field of engineering.

Jennifer Ciarkowski, 3.73, is the daughter of Grace and David Ciarkowski. She has been on the varsity basketball, volleyball and softball teams. Ciarkowski also had been a part of SADD, Educational Talent Search, National Honor Society, Trip Club, and Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council. Jennifer has been on the honor roll, on the list of Who?s Who, as well as co-MVP of the softball and volleyball teams. Her plans include attending Ferris State University for three or four years in the dental hygiene program.

Tiffany Oliver, 3.59, is the daughter of Mark and Jeannine Oliver. She was involved with SADD, Educational Talent Search, football cheerleading, Pep Band, Ski Club, and volleyball. Tiffany was on the honor roll, and earned honors as most improved in band, as well as most improved and spirit award in cheerleading. Oliver plans to attend Alpena Community College for one year before transferring to a mid-Michigan college for two years to pursue a degree in radiology.

Lauren Marie Johnson, 3.54, is the daughter of Howard and Lillian Johnson. She took part in basketball, SADD, Educational Talent Search, and Trip Club. Lauren wants to attend Grand Valley State University and major in pre-dental studies, before going on to dental school.

Roxann Hincka, 3.48, is the daughter of Clarence Sr. and Bernadine Hincka. She participated in SADD, Trip Club, and Educational Talent Search. Hincka was on the honor roll, first team all-area in basketball, first team all-conference, all state honorable mention, PHS?s leading rebounder, and top defensive player. Hincka plans to attend Alpena Community College.

Michelle Louise Mulka, 3.45, is the daughter of Mitchell and Angela Mulka. She took part in basketball, volleyball, track, Trip Club, student council, SADD and Pep Club. Mulka was student of the month, on the list of ?Who?s Who Among American High School Students,? and was on the honor roll. Mulka plans to attend Alpena Community College to obtain a computer aided design degree and then transfer to Kettering University to get an architectural degree.

Victoria Kerr, 3.44, is the daughter of John and Julie Kerr. Her post-high school days will be spent at Alpena Community College and later at a larger college to pursue a degree in elementary teaching.

Brittany Leigh Styma, 3.44, is the daughter of Pam and John Styma. She was a class officer, Trip Club officer, and participated in SADD, Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council, and softball. Styma also earned the honor of student of the week. Her college plans include attending Grand Valley State University to pursue a career as an athletic trainer.

Megan Rose Pieczynski, 3.30, is the daughter of Adam Pieczynski and Lori Millard. She was involved in Trip Club, Pep Club, student council, SADD, as well as basketball, volleyball, softball, and track. Megan was an all-conference honorable mention and second team all-conference in volleyball. She also was all-conference in softball. Pieczynski would like to attend Lake Superior State University and study criminal justice.

Sara Wisniewski, 3.28, is the daughter of Paul and Karen Wisniewski. She was part of the Trip Club, SADD, and Educational Talent Search. Wisniewski earned the academic computers award as a junior. Sara plans to attend Alpena Community College and pursue a degree in nursing.

Matthew Paul Styma, 3.21, is the son of Gregory and Karen Styma. He was a member of the football and basketball teams. Matthew was an all-conference honorable mention in basketball and second team all-conference in football at receiver. Styma also received articulation recommendations in technical drawing I & II. He plans to attend college to get a degree in small engine repair.

Mary Calhoun, 3.20, is the daughter of David and Jackie Calhoun. She participated in SADD, Pep Club, National Honor Society, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Catholic Youth Group, as well as softball, volleyball, and basketball. She also was a PIBA volunteer referee. Among her numerous sports awards, Calhoun was all-area player of the year and league MVP two years in a row. She broke her own season scoring record with 472 points, while averaging 21.5 a game. Mary also was an all-state catcher last spring. Calhoun plans on playing basketball at Alpena Community College. She wants to get a degree in banking/accounting.

Amanda Lynn Novak, 3.18, is the daughter of William and Jeanna Novak. She was involved in band, dual enrollment program, Educational Talent Search, track, Pep Band, Pet Club, Ski Club, student council, SADD, Trip Club, Upward Bound, and served two years as vice president of the Class of 2007. Among many awards, Amanda received a Cheer America certification of completion with perfe

ct attendance, 2003; editor?s choice award, 2003; 4-H Summer Camp award, 2004; certificate of music recognition award, 2004; certificate of attendance recognition, 2004; certificate of honor (National Honor Roll), and track medals. Novak plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University to major in psychology.

Eleisha Perrault, 3.05, is the daughter of Denise and Edward Perrault. She took part in Educational Talent Search, SADD, Pep Club, and student council. Perrault also was on the honor roll. Eleisha?s plans include attending Lake Superior State University to pursue a degree in art to become an art instructor.

Jason McLeod, 3.02, is the son of Buddy and Vickie McLeod. He was part of the football and basketball district champions, and also took part in Educational Talent Search. McLeod wants to attend Alpena Community College.
