The team returns many key players for next year. ?We had a good season,? said coach Karl Grambau. ?We were disappointed los

ing to Mio 37-27 in the districts but we had more highs than lows this season. We lost some very close games.? ?It was a great group to work with and we have a good core group returning next year, along with some great players coming from the junior varsity. We should be strong next year.? The Hurons started the season with four wins, and then lost five out of six to even their record at 5-5. The team won its next three games, then dropped two, won two, and lost a game before defeating Posen in the last regular season game. That came before a disappointing loss to Mio in the first game of the district tournament.

?We lost twice to St. Ignace (19-4, 10-0), and Sault Ste. Marie (12-9, 7-3). Three of those games went down to the wire,? Grambau said. ?We came up short of winning another district title, but it should make our returnees even more hungry next season.? In addition to Tulgestke, seniors lost to graduation include Jordan Claus, Trent Holmes, Eric Kieliszewski, and Moua Xiong. Grambau said he appreciated the help of assistant coaches Karl Momrik, Mike Grulke, and Mike Tulgestke. ?I think that our boys basketball program is definitely heading in the right direction and we will be one of the better teams around northern Michigan for the next few years,? Grambau said. Grambau?s teams have won two district championships in his six years at the helm. The team?s record under his coaching is 79-56.
