RC teen’s photo is featured on the cover of a magazine

A Rogers City teen?s photograph of a Presque Isle County landmark is on the cover of a national publication this month. Hilary Lynch, 16, a junior who splits her time as a home school student and at Rogers City High School, was taking pictures of her friends Sandy Wood of Boston, Massachusetts and Kyla Schatz of Presque Isle last summer. They went to different sites, including the old Presque Isle Lighthouse. Lynch submitted a photo to ?Teen Ink? in December.

It features Wood and Schatz posing on a large boat anchor in the foreground. Wood stands on the anchor and lifts her arm in the air, while Schatz lays on a portion of the anchor closer to the ground. The photo was to go with an article. The headline for the article on the cover states: ?Friends: Are they a guiding light or a weight pulling you down!?

LYNCH SUBMITTED the photo in December and danced around the house when she discovered the snapshot on the cover January 11. The magazine touts ?R

eaching millions of teens nationwide.? It features articles, poems, and reviews by teens, and of course pictures. This is the third picture taken by Lynch that has been published in the magazine. In September ?06, Lynch?s photograph of flowers in her mother?s garden was printed. She also had a picture of a Seagull Point sunset make it. The sunset was at the centerpiece, while Wood?s silhouette could be seen to the left. Lynch kids her friends and calls them ?Cover Girls.? They try to give it back to Hilary by calling her ?Cover Girl Photographer,? or something close to that, but it just doesn?t sound as cute.

?They like it,? said Lynch, still beaming about the accomplishment Monday afternoon. Lynch is the daughter of Mike and Ann Lynch of Rogers City.
