Posen loses to a fourth undefeated team, back at home for the final three games

So begins Posen?s second season. The Mio game is over, and with three remaining games, the Vikings are looking to run the table against Hale, Hillman on Homecoming Night, and Atlanta. All three of the remaining games are at home and are against opponents with a combined record of 5-12. Friday, the Vikes host 1-5 Hale. Both Posen and Hale have identical records, with both squads defeating Arenac Eastern, but that is where the similarities end. The Vikings have gone into four games against undefeated opponents, while Hale lost to 1-4 Atlanta. The red and white will be looking for their first win at home. Posen played with a lot of heart against Mio, scoring the most points in one game against the North Star League power, but could not stop the speedy tandem of Pat and Corey Wright, who ran for 369 rushing yards.

THE VIKINGS cut an early 16-0 deficit to two, midway through the first quarter. It took two offensive plays for the Thunderbolts to put the ball into the end zone and punch in the conversion. The Vikings went four-and-out and Mio marched down the field again and went up 16-0 at the 1:47 mark of the first. Going in, Posen knew they could move the ball against a Mio defense that is not as solid as it has been in years past, and they did just that at the onset of the second quarter. Jason Romel?s 28-yard run to the T-Bolt seven set up a five-yard TD run by Paul Kroll that put Posen on the board.

On Mio?s next possession, Aaron Romel stripped the ball from the quarterback and Posen recovered at the Mio 46. Jason Romel had another key run of 23 yards to the 13 which set up Kroll?s second TD of the night. Romel lunged across the goal line for the conversion with 6:01 left before halftime, and the Vikes trailed 16-14. MIO WOULD return the ensuing kickoff 48 yards and hand the ball to Pat Wright, who found clear sailing on the right side of the line and went untouched for a 26-yard score. That made the score 24-14, but Posen came back strong. Aided by a personal foul call by Mio, the Viki

ngs found themselves with good field position at the T-Bolt 35, but fumbled the ball on an important fourth-and-one at the 23. A few minutes later, Pat Wright was off to the races for his longest score of the night of 68 yards, to put the home team up 30-14. The Thunderbolts scored 34 unanswered points after the Vikes got within two.

Posen?s final score of the night came on a 10-yard run by Romel with 47 seconds left. It was set up by a 35-yard pass reception by Brandon Hentkowski. The Vikings ran 67 running plays and 13 pass plays for a total of 80. Mio needed 31 plays to rack up 488 yards of rushing offense.
