Hurons win first meet at Lost Lake Woods

The Hurons traveled to the Lost Lake Woods Club north of Lincoln and won their first meet of the season. They edged the home team by nine strokes with a 181. Alcona finished with a score of 190. Al Gajewski had the lowest score of the meet with a nine-hole 42. His afternoon was highlighted with a 30-yard chip in on the ninth hole for a birdie. The rest of the Rogers City golfers fell right in line with low scores as well, and include: Scott Kowalewsky 44, Matt Peacock 46, and John Plath 49. Tyler Thompson shot a 55. The other participating schools were Oscoda and Mio. Huron coach Dave Haselhuhn jokingly credits the new golf shirts they donned for the first time Tuesday. The JV lost 257 to 225. Tyler Szumila had the lowest score from the Huron squad with a 55.
