Script resurrected by the OHS Drama Club for weekend play

The spring play at OHS is entitled ?Crashing Society,? with performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

?It was the senior class play at OHS in 1944, and I recently found an old script and liked it a lot,? said Peg Herring, drama club director.

?The situation is humorous, the one-liners are great, and the characters are endearingly funny. Unfortunately, the play is out of print, so I included the original and added scenes and characters to make it full-length and provide enough parts for the larger club we have nowadays.?

The plot concerns the Dunnigan family, who inherited a million dollars and moved to New York at the insistence of the of the mother (played by Chelsea Grieve) and a daughter (Kim Hillis) who want to become ?high society.?

The father (Justin Bruder) and son (Randy Cope) are not at all pleased, and a second daughter (Dawn Stone) is amused by her family?s squabbling.

The action revolves around father and son?s plotting to get home to Kentucky and mother and daughter?s plans to impress the elite of New York.

A butler makes hysterically thick-headed comments throughout, and a group of New York snobs has some surprises in store for the Dunnigans when they host a formal reception.

The play will be performed in the OHS cafetorium.
