Huron runners travel to Ogemaw Heights

The Rogers City High School cross-country teams participated in the Dwayne Rau Memorial Cross Country Invitational Thursday for their second meet of the season. Coach Rob Kortman described the course as ?not one of the faster courses because of the number of turns and some hills.? There were some changes at the annual race in Ogemaw Heights this year. All the boys ran together as did all the girls, and there were no separate JV races. Another big change was the computerized entries for the meet using the www.directathletics.com website. Kortman said he was very pleased with the performances of both the boys? and the girls? teams. He explained that many of the runners on both teams were participating in their first cross-country meet.

THE BOYS team placed seventh overall out of a total field of 14 teams and third within the small school division. Placing for the boys were Derek McLennan, 15th (18:43); Mike Mierzwinski, 35th (19:19:32); Tharin Wilk, 48th (20:07); Zak McLennan, 55th (20:28); Andy Tulgestke, 75th (21:16); and Travis Lafferty, 124th (24:25). The girls? team took eighth place overall out of 10 teams and third in the small school division.
