Five candidates to run for Rogers City Council

The filing deadline for the upcoming Rogers City election has passed and five candidates will be running for two available seats on the city council. Incumbent mayor Beach Hall is running unopposed for a two-year term. The deadline for submitting nominating petitions was Monday at 4 p.m. One of two incumbents, whose term expires at the end of the year, decided not to run. Karl Heidemann is finishing the final year of a four year term.

Jim Sinclair filed his nominating petitions well before the deadline and will be seeking a third straight term. Sinclair will be joined on the ballot by former councilwoman Deb Greene, who failed to retain her post two years ago, Cassandra Bruning, Eric Brege, and William Bruning. The election is set for November 8. Each of the candidates elected will begin new terms of office January 1, 2006. The deadline for candidates to run as a write-in is the Friday before the election.
