Cadillac Products receives Clean Corporate Citizen designation

Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester announced that Cadillac Products Automotive Company in Rogers City had been designated as a Michigan Clean Corporate Citizen in a voluntary program recognizing environmental stewardship. Cadillac Products Automotive Company becomes the 113th facility statewide to earn the designation. ?I am especially pleased to honor the northern Michigan manufacturer as the first Clean Corporate Citizen in Presque Isle County,? said Chester.

?The management and associates at Cadillac Products have demonstrated that a commitment to protect our resources for future generations can be built into all aspects of a vital business enterprise. I congratulate the entire Rogers City team for this accomplishment.? The Rogers City plant is one of three manufacturing plants owned by Cadillac Products Automotive Company. It employees 125 workers and has been in operation since 1964.

Currently its manufacturing processing for the automotive market includes blown film extrusion, die cutting, thermoforming, adhesive printing, and robotic application of adhesives. In the past, the facility has produced plastic sheeting for the agricultural industry and bags for government MRE rations. Cadillac Products Automotive Company has set and achieved environmental goals that include reductions in electricity usage, reducing adhesive waste by 15 percent, conducting a comprehe

nsive facility investigation to identify additional opportunities for energy saving, ongoing recycling of cardboard and paper, and expanding use of returnable pallets.

Cadillac Products Automotive Company also has earned International Standards Organization 14001 certification, meeting the voluntary international standard for environmental management systems. To qualify for a Clean Corporate Citizen designation, candidates must adopt a facility-specific environmental management system, active pollution prevention initiatives, and have a consistent record of compliance with applicable environmental requirements.

The program is open to establishments regulated under any of Michigan?s environmental statues. Designations are valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
