School election scheduled for Tuesday

Presque Isle County voters will go to the polls Tuesday for the annual school elections. Three members will be elected to the Rogers City Area Schools Board of Education. Two candidates are running for a pair of four-year terms. Incumbent board chairman Mike Marx and Lee Gapczynski will be listed on the ballot. Longtime board member and former president Norman Karbon chose not to run for re-election.

Scott McLennan, a former president of the board, seeks election to fill a partial term vacated by Greg Frost. Keith Gordon has been serving in the vacancy. Voters also will be asked to renew a building and site millage of 1.73 mills for eight years. The funds will be used for repairs and maintenance of school buildings and grounds. Voting will be at the Grambau Education Center on West Huron Avenue in Rogers City.

In Posen two candidates are running for two positions on the board. Mitchell Mulka and Randall Styma each seek four-year terms. Styma is an incumbent while Mulka is a newcomer. Incumbent Patricia Soik decided not to run for reelection. Voting will be at the Posen Community Center from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Write-in candidates have until Friday to file a ?declaration of intent? with the county clerk if they wish to run for a board seat. Their name will not appear on the ballot.
