Police Briefs-week 13

On March 28 police arrested a Cincinnati man, 41, on a two-count warrant. The first count is for stalking a Rogers City woman and the second count is for using the Internet to communicate with the victim. The man previously had been warned according to the law but continued making threats through emails to the victim and the warrant was issued for his arrest. The man was contacted in Cincinnati and came to Rogers City to turn in himself on the warrant. The stalking charge is a one-year misdemeanor and the Internet charge is a two-year misdemeanor.

On March 24 at 5:30 a.m. a Bradley Highway restaurant reported a break-in and entry overnight. The suspect (or suspects) forced entry through the rear door and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.

On March 18 an Ocqueoc man, 40, was arrested on two counts of fraud. The first charge was for making false statements to a local banking institution. The second charge was using a false social security number in obtaining two loans under false pretenses from the bank. Each charge is a one-year misdemeanor.

On March 15 at 4:09 a.m. police received a call reporting domestic violence in progress on South Third Street. Police officers responded to the call and discovered a father and son engaged in an altercation. The father, 42, is from Rogers City and the son, 23, is from East Lansing. Police found evidence of damage to the residence and injuries on both individuals. They were charged with domestic violence and the son also was charged with malicious destruction of property.

On March 11 at 11 p.m. an officer received a cellular phone call from a person following a possible intoxicated driver traveling w

est on Erie Street. A police officer intercepted and stopped the suspected vehicle near the Bradley Highway intersection. Alcohol was suspected and the driver, a Rogers City male, 49, was arrested for driving while impaired and refusing a breath test.

On March 10, police officers completed an investigation of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a female victim less than 13 years of age and a Rogers City man, 49, who was subsequently arraigned in court. The victim’s father reported the incident, which included penetration, to police on February 26 after learning about it from his daughter.

On March 9 at 8:24 a.m. police responded to a report of domestic violence at a North Second Street residence. A Rogers City male, 27, was arrested and lodged at the county jail for assaulting a 25-year-old Rogers City female.
