Onaway Chamber of Commerce regrouping

A yet to be determined meeting will more than likely decide the immediate future of the Onaway Area Chamber of Commerce.

The three officers of the board, president Kammie Dennis, Lewis Robinson, and Laura Shack are planning on resigning their positions, and a meeting with current chamber members will be scheduled in the coming weeks to elect a new board.

According to Shack, there has been interest expressed by members of the community to continue operating the local organization, which has been involved in promoting businesses, organizing the annual Fourth of July celebration, and also has been involved in setting up other community related activities such as a haunted house. When a time and a date are selected for a meeting a letter to current chamber members will be mailed.

“It is very important if (people) want the chamber to continue that they attend,” said Shack, who is stepping down because she doesn’t have enough time to devote to the job. Shack believes fresh ideas “will be good for the organization.”
