Chloe Lynn Wolgast is New Year’s Baby for 2005
Chloe Lynn Morgan was born at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey New Year’s Day at 2:43 p.m., qualifying her as The Outlook’s 2005 New Year’s Baby. She is the first child of Onaway residents Joe Wolgast and Laura Martin. Chloe’s grandparents are Dave and Marcia Pauly of Onaway, Jerry Martin of Allanson, Karen Wolgast of Onaway, Adolph Wolgast of Ocqueoc, and Don Rice of Onaway.
Chloe Lynn made her entry into life weighing six pounds, nine ounces, and she was 20-and-a-half inches in length. Chloe’s birth was expected to be any day after her due date came and went December 27.
LAURA WENT into labor on the afternoon of December 31, but after 27-1/2 hours and still no delivery, doctors decided to perform a cesarean birth to deliver the baby. All went well, and Laura’s recovery was extraordinary. “She was up and walking around on Sunday,” said Joe Wolgast, of his wife-to-be. The couple is engaged and expecting to marry in the next couple of years. Martin was discharged Monday afternoon and back home later that day. “It hurts, but I’m awful happy,” said Laura, still moving around gingerly. The new mother is exhausted from what Joe calls Chloe’s “mixed up schedule. She sleeps all day and is awake during the night.”
THE COUPLE, in addition to receiving a handful of nice presents for having Northern Michigan Hospital’s first baby of 2005, are the recipients of many fine gifts from local merchants including a $10 certificate for Laura at Sally’
During Chloe Lynn’s reign as the New Year’s Baby 2005, she will spend the year growing and developing until December when she has her picture taken for publication as the outgoing New Year’s Baby, a position which was just abdicated by Kaden Gerald Dean, the son of Preston and Lisa Dean of Millersburg.
