Antique snowmobile show

Planning is continuing for an antique and vintage snowmobile show, scheduled for March 12, 2005 at the Driftwood Motel in Rogers City. The group planning the event has received permission to use the vacant lots on the two blocks west of the motel to be used by the snowmobile displayers so they can show how the snowmobiles perform. The city has granted the closing of the two roads that connect the block to the motel area. The road will be closed during the event. The city also will help in lowering the snowmobile banks in designated areas.

On the morning of the event, the Presque Isle Sno-Trail Club will bring in one of their snow trail groomers to make a small ride area for displayers to demonstrate their snowmobiles. The committee is made up of people interested in having an antique and vintage snowmobile show in Rogers City. Representatives of the of the Travel and Visitors Bureau, Rogers City Chamber of Commerce, and the Presque Isle Sno-Trail Club have volunteered to be part of the committee.

Tina Derry and Dennis Bannon represent the Rogers City Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show Committee and not the Michigan Snowmobile Association (MSA) as reported in last week’s coverage of the city council meeting on the subject.
