Chamber plans celebration of downtown Rogers City

The Rogers City Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Rogers City Optimist Club, has set plans for the second annual “Light Up the City,” November 24. The event features the first lighting of the Optimist-sponsored Christmas trees in Westminster Park

and special entertainment in the downtown area. Many downtown merchants will have their doors open extra hours and offer special bargains for the celebration. The event will feature entertainment by the “Mellow Fellows” and holiday crafting at the Radka Building on Third Street beginning at 5:15 p.m. Tree lighting at Westminster Park will be from 6-6:30 p.m. Entertainment continues at the Radka Building from 6:45-7:30 p.m. with Christmas music from the combined handbell choirs of St. John and Peace Lutheran Churches and the Mellow Fellows. Richard Vogelheim back at helm at Richard’s Clothing

After managing Richard’s Clothing for 17 years, Val Vogelheim has handed the keys to the store back to his father, Richard. Richard started the local clothing store in on Third Street in Rogers City in 1960. “I wish my father the best of luck, but I feel the small retailer is on the endangered species list,” Val said. Richard plans to continue service to area customers at the retail store while Val pursues other business opportunities.
