New postmaster takes over in Millersburg

Under a sun shiny sky in front of the Millersburg Post Office Wednesday, Rob Gross was sworn in as the new postmaster. Gross, standing with his wife Shannon, daughter Kera, mother Judy, and her finance John Bates, placed his right hand on the Bible and repeated the oath of office on the sidewalk in front of the building, before officially taking over.

?Since I?ve been here, I?ve heard nothing but good comments from customers,? said Gross, who has been working in the Millersburg Post Office for more than a month. ?I?m proud to be here and I?m looking forward to serving the community.? Gross said he has received ?good feedback? from the people he has met. Expect some minor changes in the office, which will fit Gross? management style of being a ?neat and tidy freak.?

as promoted to postmaster in Hawks, and from 1999 to this year has been involved in managing city delivery in Rogers City He is a certified team leader and route examiner, and also was involved with DOIS implementation and CORE (Carrier Optimal Routing for Route Adjustments). Gross started his career with the post office in 1990 as a casual clerk in Bay City. He was then hired as a PTF city carrier. Gross transferred to Petoskey in 1996 and later started working part time as a supervisor. Two years later, again he transferred, moving to the shores of Thunder Bay where he was appointed acting delivery supervisor.

Gross? hobbies include spending time with his family, scroll sawing, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Phil Williams from the Gaylord regional office, who conducted the ceremony, said the Millersburg Post Office continues to have a good customer base, with enough revenue, to hopefully keep the location open for ?a long time.?
