PHS track fifth at Mio Invitational

The Posen girls? track team continues to post good results for the young team, placing fifth with 46 points at the Mio Invitational. The Alcona team was first (172), followed by AuGres (114), Mio (84), Pinconning (55), Posen (46), Rogers City (38), Grayling (30) and Hillman (0). In the boys events in order of finish, Alcona captured first with 124 2/3 points, followed by Grayling (100), Pinconning (78), AuGres (76), Mio (66 1/3), Rogers City (40), Posen (35) and Hillman (33).

The boys chalked up no less than five personal records with James Sobek second in the long jump (18?6?), Aaron Hincka second in the discus (119?10?), third in the high jump (5?8?) and sixth in the shot put (36?8?). Apollo Schuch was sixth with his PR in the 100-meter dash (12.81). Adam Zdybel, Curtis Beach, Schuch, and Sobek were third in the 1600-relay (3:54.63) and Kalin Diffin, Beach, Sobek, and Zdybel were fifth in the 3200 (9:47.61). Taking sixth places were Beach in 1600-run (5:25.86), Sobek in the 400-dash (58.28), and Beach in 800-run (2:28.63).

In the girls? events, Amanda Pieczynski took a first in the 200-dash (28.04) and set a new invitational record. Pieczynski also took second in the 400-dash (1:06.05) a personal record for her, as well as second in the 100-dash (13.45). The relay team of Rachel Beach, Amanda Swan, Michelle Mulka, and Amber Budnik was second in the 3200 event (13:12.52) and Beach, Pieczynski, Swan and Mulka were second in the 1600-relay (5:04). Brittany Chojnacki, Swan, Megan Pieczynski, and Beach were fourth in the 400-meter (1:04.02), and Amanda Novak, Budnik, Megan Pieczynski and Swan were third in the throwers? relay (1:15.50).
