Chamber names new executive director

The Rogers City Chamber of Commerce has announced the promotion of Bill Hanchett to the position of executive director. Hanchett was unanimously elected by the board of directors and is believed to be the first executive director in about a decade. Hanchett retired from Process Control Computer Group at Dow Corning Corporation in 1996. He spent several years traveling on his boat in the southern states before returning to work in Ohio and Pennsylvania as a computer service representative.

?After much travel, we always returned to northern Michigan as the place we most enjoyed and are very pleased with our choice of Rogers City for our new home.

?THE MARINA drew us here and the people are why we?ll stay. I?m looking forward to working with our chamber of commerce members to maximize our potential.? ?It is critically important that the chamber has an executive director in order to meet the needs of its members,? said president Bill Dempsey. ?Thanks to past president Chris Taylor and last year?s board, we have an ambitious and outstandingly creative board in place at the chamber this year.?

?We have a responsibility to continue finding ways to serve our members, and the promotion of Bill Hanchett to executive director is a step in the right direction. It?s an investment in the future, and absolutely necessary,? Dempsey said.
